We are about to accept delivery of 1,000 pounds of lip gloss palettes. Whoa! Many thanks to our sponsor, eWillow.com, for covering the cost of the shipping for us. More details to come, but for now, take a look at this:

When I started Cosmetics for a Cause, my original thought was to
approach large cosmetics companies for donations. I knew it would be a
huge undertaking, but I also knew that the results would be worth all of
the difficult work. Little did I know that it wouldn’t be the large
cosmetics companies that would be so willing to donate. Our best donors
have been…YOU!
I am overwhelmed with the emails and
packages that Cosmetics for a Cause has received from the general
public. The large cosmetics companies have ignored our requests.
(Except for one, which I will blog about in a few days.) We have
received emails from high school girls who want to help, from women who
have an abundance of cosmetic bags to donate, and so very many people
who have unused make-up they ship to us at their own expense.
Here
is a sampling of some of the donations we have received in the past few
months. Every donation, no matter how big or small, makes a huge
difference in the life of a woman in need.
Thank you so very much, all of YOU!
We had the honor of assembling gift bags to donate to the Palm Beach County Victim Services Day of Beauty. We put together bags of goodies for manicures/pedicures and added a nice cosmetic bag for each woman. These are the types of programs that we love to be a part of. If you know of any organizations that can benefit from donations of make-up and other beauty supply items, please contact us at [email protected].
We would like to give a big shout out of thanks to Erika Davis for her extremely generous donation of nail polish. Erika contacted us via [email protected] and we arranged to meet her and pick up her donation. Little did we know that we needed a moving truck to transport all of the new, unopened nail polish that she had for us.
Below is just a sneak peek. There are several hundred more bottles of nail polish in many different colors to come our way. If you know of an organization that can benefit from Erika’s generosity, please contact us at [email protected]. We will make sure that deserving women and girls receive Erika’s nail polish.
We have already donated several hundred bottles to Dress for Success Palm Beaches. They were thrilled to receive this much-needed beauty item to pass along to the women they serve.
We would like to assemble manicure kits, so if you would like to donate nail files, cotton balls, or nail polish remover, please visit our “Donate” page for more information.
Hundreds of women-in-need will benefit from Erika Davis’ donation. |
Erika Davis, left, donated hundreds of bottles of nail polish to Cosmetics for a Cause. Erica Harreveld (c) and Sophia Otfinoski (r) were thrilled to collect her generous donation. |
We are so excited to announce that Cosmetics for a Cause is now an official partner with Dress for Success Palm Beaches.
Erica and Sophia sorted through donations of skin care products, perfumes, lotions, and make-up and delivered the items to a very happy group of volunteers at the organization’s local headquarters.
Dress for Success does so much to help women who are seeking employment. The organization spends one-on-one time with each woman to dress her head-to-toe for her job interviews.
We are so happy that we could provide beauty care items to these deserving women as they search for a career!

Erica (our founder) and Sophia (our director of marketing and public relations) were pleased to attend an open house yesterday for our area’s chapter of Dress for Success. What a great organization. Erica and Sophia made several great contacts from around the county.
Currently, Dress for Success is desperately in need of donations of mascara and eye liner. In addition to outfitting women with the necessary professional attire they need to obtain a job, they also supply them with cosmetics to complete their look.
We look forward to a long-lasting relationship with Dress for Success!

Look at the items that we collected and donated to Place of Hope in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. We could not have done this without the help of local people in our area. They generously brought donations to a neighborhood Christmas party. We set up a small table, and as the people entered the party, they left their donations in the basket.
Take a look at all of the items we gathered and sorted.
You can read more about Place of Hope on their website, but here is a little snippet of their purpose:
Place of Hope is a unique faith-based, state-licensed child welfare
organization providing family-style foster care (emergency and
long-term); family outreach and intervention; maternity care; safety for
domestic minor sexually trafficked victims; transitional housing and
support services; adoption and foster care recruitment and support; hope
and healing opportunities for children and families who have been
traumatized by abuse and neglect throughout our region..
We received a very generous donation of make-up and Betsey Johnson cosmetic bags from a blogger. Thank you, Trish!
The Betsey Johnson cosmetic bags were perfect for our first official delivery. We put together two lovely bags full of make-up, shampoo, conditioner, and nail polish for a seventh-grade girl who is about to enter foster care. Such a sad story…
I know that all of the stories I encounter are going to be sad. However, my heart is full when I think of the generosity of others and your willingness to take this journey with me as we strive to give girls and women the ability to find inner strength. I really feel like feeling beautiful on the outside can help them feel better on the inside.
We held our first donation collection on Saturday. Our kind neighbor asked all of her friends to contribute items during our annual holiday party.
I am so proud to announce that we collected over $500 in products.
Once I am finished with my finals (ugh!) I am going to sort through everything and make up gift bags to donate to a local home that houses girls ages 8 to 17. I plan on dropping off the gift bags on Christmas Eve.
I will be sure to post pics!
Thank you again for all of your support.
